Last year i did a post on avant garde and a brief history of the magazine and the typeface. Today i came across an article with an even more detail account of the history of the typeface and i just wanted to share it.

Dress Code

Last week i went to an AIGA lecture in Ft. Lauderdale to hear the owners and Creative Directors of Dress Code talk about their new book Never Sleep, projects they've done, and how there is a major disconnection between the life of a design student and the transition to being a design professional. The two owners, Dan and Andre are both pretty funny. They're like an older, taller, white versions of Graphic Peoples. Check out more of there site when you get a chance. Also view it at various times during the day to see random quotes of thing there doing.

The Sartorialist

I've been a fan of the Sartorialist every since i started reading GQ, but it was only recently that i start looking at his blog. I can even find words to describe it. You just have to view it for yourself. All i can say is that i'm gonna design a poster that say's "You don't need a stylist, just the Sartorialist"

Wu-Tang Forever

One of my favorite styles of design is the Jazz blue note records albums of cats like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Herbie Hancock and one of my favorite Hip Hop groups of all time is Wu-Tang Clan. Well i introduce the remix Wu-Tang album covers by designer Logan Walters He has taken two things i love and created some of the freshest shit i've seen in a while. I've been wanting to design some Jazz inspired things for a while and this guys work definitly has pushed me to go forward with it.

He was inspied to redesign these album cover because of how wack most of the Wu-Tang covers are and because of these two designers M.S. Corley and Olly Moss. Olly Moss Redesign old video game covers to look like old Penguin books and M.S. Corley redesigned the Harry Potter Books. Both designers were heavily inspired by Saul Bass.
